A man with ties to the Hells Angels, and described by police as
dangerous, is currently being sought on a warrant accusing him of extortion.
The Montreal police issued a release Thursday asking for the public’s
help in locating Gabriel Girard, 37, a man from the Saguenay region who
has been involved with the biker gang for more than a decade. According
to the release, the Montreal and Laval police forces are involved in
trying to locate him. Police believe Girard might be in the Montreal
region “and he is considered to be a dangerous man.” They are asking
anyone who spots Girard to immediately call 911.
The victim of the alleged extortion attempt is a Montreal resident.
Another man, Yves Jean, 52, has been charged as part of the same
investigation.
According to the release, both men showed up on Tuesday for a “meeting
orchestrated by police officers. During this meeting (Jean) was
arrested. Gabriel Girard managed to escape.”
Girard has an extensive criminal record that includes his arrests in two
major drug trafficking investigations involving members of the Hells
Angels since 2003. In 2011, he was sentenced to the equivalent of a
76-month sentence after he pleaded guilty to drug trafficking,
conspiracy and gangsterism for his role in a drug trafficking network
that was controlled by the Hells Angels chapter based in Trois-Rivières.
Girard is 1.80 metres tall, weighs 80 kilograms, has blue eyes and brown
Mohawk-style hair. He is missing two fingers on his right hand.
