Man charged with decades-old sex crimes found dead in Sask. home


A man who was facing several sex-related charges dating back to the 1980s and
1990s was found dead in his Saskatchewan residence Friday.

Thomas Donald Mark was found dead in his home in Codette, Sask, at about 10:30
p.m. Friday, Saskatchewan RCMP said. Police are investigating the incident, but
said foul play is not suspected.

Mark, who was in his 70s, was arrested on Nov. 23, after two men separately
came forward earlier this year to report that they had been sexually assaulted
years earlier.

Mark had perviously served as a foster parent and hockey coach in the
community. The RCMP announced that he was facing nine sex-related charges
earlier Friday afternoon.

One of the men told police he first met Mark at an arena in the town of
Nipawin. At the time, Mark was doing maintenance at the arena.

On Friday, an RCMP spokesperson suggested that there may be more victims.
